2000 Preseason Roster Moves - Part 2
by Clint Mills (8/30/2000)

The Patriots today filled 4 of the 5 available slots on their Practice Squad with familiar faces. NT Garrett Johnson, G Rob Gatrell, LB Olrick Johnson, and RB Patrick Pass were all reclaimed by New England after being released by the team on Sunday.

Any team in the NFL can sign a player from another team's practice squad, but that player must then be added to the 53 man active roster. Likewise, if the Patriots chose to active a player from their own practice squad, they first must clear room on their 53-man roster. A player cannot be "demoted" back to the practice squad without first clearing waivers. Players on the practice squad do not count against the NFL salary cap.

The Patriots still have an available spot on their practice squad should they choose to fill it.
