Patriots cut Derrick Fletcher
(9/20/2000)
The Patriots cut offensive guard Derrick Fletcher, a 5th round
draft pick last season by Bobby Grier. Listed at 355 pounds, Fletcher
was the largest player on the roster. He played in the first two games
of the season at guard, but was immediatly moved back on the depth chart
with the recent additions of 4th year guards Sale Isaia and Joe
Andruzzi, both of whom started against the Vikings.
The Patriots now have 52 players on their active roster, leaving room
for another player to be claimed off of waivers or activated from their
own or another team's practice squad.
Adrian Klemm and Todd Rucci will both count against the 53 man roster
following the Indianapolis home game when they are actived from the
"physically unable to perform list." The Patriots have their full
complement of 5 players on their practice squad, as well as G/C Lance
Scott on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. This brings
the total number of players under contract to 60.
